07’PechaKucha’ Reflective writing

This week, we did a Pechakucha for Project 4, which I have to say is something I’ve never done before. That’s why I feel nervous during the speech.

I don’t think it was a successful presentation. Although I found some interesting examples, I only had 20 seconds to describe an image, which made me overly narrow the meaning of what I wanted to express. I jumped to the next image before I could describe it, which made me jump too fast in the eyes of the audience.

Danny and Jackie gave me a lot of advice. It made me realise that I should spend more time on creative things and focus on solving problems. Apps are not the only way to solve the problem. In the case of the recyclable products I proposed, smartphones themselves are not environmentally friendly.

I should open my mind and focus on design challenges instead of thinking linearly. I need to do more in-depth research on my chosen topic to find out what is acceptable. Instead of thinking about what the final result will be or what form I want to make in the end, I will choose appropriate ways to make people understand this matter through more profound research, to cause their reflection, or to inspire people to change their behaviour.
